Weekend travels

So a weekend of mostly enjoyable travel is past. Went to the Mt. Robson, B.C. Visitor’s Center on Friday afternoon and did a short book signing. The staff there were very hospitable and helpful. The weather was beautiful, which meant that one had an unobscured view from the Centerof Mt. Robson in all its snow capped glory.

They have been getting lots of European and Australian tourists but not so many from the US. I was then able to visit with relatives in Alberta and was an exhibitor at the Word on the Street Book Festival in Lethbridge on the weekend. There was lots going on, but what I most enjoyed was talking to the book-buying public and getting to know, and compare notes with, other authors. Executive Director Colette Acheson, her staff and all the volunteers did a great job pulling everything together and should be commended.

The trip back took me through Banff National and Jasper National Parks, again in spectacular sunshine. What an amazing creation we live in! An awesome trip marred only by a blown tire at highway speeds. Fortunately a garage in Valemount had a tire my size, I limped the vehicle there on a smaller “donut” spare before they closed and it was put on in no time, so I made it home safe and sound. All in all, a very good weekend
